Welcome to FBC Greenwood. If You haven’t noticed, my name is Joel. I’m in the middle of my third year as a part of the FBC Greenwood team. I graduated from Judson College—now Judson University—in Elgin Illinois with a bachelor of arts in youth ministry/adolescent studies degree in 2002. I then went on to receive my Master of Arts in Youth Ministry degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004. I also married my partner in crime, Heidi, that same summer. We have two little rug-rats of the fury barking kind—Lucy and Sydney. I enjoy all sports, outdoor activities (especially fishing), woodworking, and writing.
I sensed my calling to youth ministry as a freshman in high school when I recognized the unmet spiritual needs of my peers and the lack of individuals committed to walking with them through this trying time of maturation and identity development. Faithfulness is my desire. I may not ever meet everyone’s expectations. I may not be the best administrator. I may not preach much. But I hope to at least be faithful to my Savior and His calling in my life—a calling to serve the desperate needs of a generation of youth lost in a culture consumed by itself.
Romans 14:8 If I live, I live for the Lord. If I die, I die for the Lord. So in living or dying I belong to the Lord.
