Job Description

Audio/Visual Technician

Part Time Support Staff Position

 

First Baptist Church of Greenwood, IN (FBCG) is an American Baptist Churches USA church seeking an Audio/Visual Technician to operate all aspects of the sound and video systems for weekly Worship Services and special events. They will work directly with the Worship Arts Director to create a clean mix and a clearly understood audio experience for those in attendance or worshipping online. The A/V Technician will also work with A/V volunteers to ensure all technology used in Worship Services is operating appropriately.

This position is supervised by the FBC-G Worship Arts Director.

Hours and Salary: Must be available 8-10 hours weekly; pay rate is $15/hour.

  • Sunday Mornings: 9am-12pm (Schedule subject to change. Hours may vary depending on Worship schedule.)

  • Evening rehearsal one day a week (as scheduled by the Worship Arts Director.)

  • Special Events (as needed.)

Qualifications:

  • Skilled with analog and digital audio consoles in a production environment.

  • Knowledge of audio/visual equipment and software including but not limited to:

  1. Monitors

  2. Loudspeakers

  3. Various styles of microphones

  4. Instruments

  5. Computer hardware and software

  • Knowledge and experience with best practices re. audio equipment, including proper power sequencing.

  • Understand the signal pathway for all inputs and controls to manipulate the sound board.

  • Ability to conduct a sound check quickly and effectively.

  • Attentive to detail. Possesses good organizational skills and proper time management.

  • Familiar with broadcast video equipment and live stream production.

  • Ability to teach volunteers to properly use equipment with grace and patience.

  • Preference given to those with experience with MediaShout, ProPresenter, Share Faith, or similar software program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set and strike stage equipment, including:  instruments, microphones and monitors for rehearsals and Sunday morning Worship Services.

  • Perform a sound check and mix the sound according to the standards set by the Worship Director.

  • Execute audio aspects for one or two Sunday morning Worship Services.

  • Answer any questions A/V volunteers have regarding worship technology in the absence of the Worship Director.

  • Be able to adjust the visual presentation quickly to adapt to a changing worship set/design.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and teach volunteers how to utilize equipment in a productive and efficient manner.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

    • Keyboarding

    • Fine motor skills

    • Use of office equipment

  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs.
